A representative from Sports explained that "it's something we're considering for the future." "We're still early in the process of transitioning to next-gen, and currently, the team is focused on delivering the most enjoyable, high-quality experience on new consoles before considering upgrading different platforms."
While the explanation does offer hope that a patch may come out for Madden 22 on PC after the game's release on the 20th of August, in this case "the future" could also refer to next year's Madden 23. It's a shame considering EA has put in a lot of effort to make Madden PC as good as Madden on consoles. Last year's Madden 21 was released on Origin and Steam on the same day as console versions were released. This was the first time in the Madden series. It's a good thing that PC Madden fans won't have to wait for the whole of next year to play a next-gen version of the game.
Madden NFL 22: EA Announces 10 Major improvements in the upcoming Madden NFL Release
Madden NFL was not an impressive 2020. Both the Xbox One and PS4 versions were widely criticized by both the public and by critics. Many focussed on the perceived weaknesses of single-player games like Franchise Mode and Face of the Franchise. It also had bugs. It was truly sluggish.
Like many games in 2020, had to deal with the unprecedented challenges brought by the COVID-19 epidemic, which forced the team to shift working from home in the middle of the development. EA had to also deal with console transitions -- always a difficult time for sports games as developers try to find a balance between new and old tech.
